VALE know that Flat Roof and Dome windows are a fantastic way of getting light into those difficult areas within the home, unfortunately they create their own unique shading problems.

We are all aware that within homes there are certain rooms and times during the day where only a blackout blind with do. Until now there has been no practical solution for flat roof and dome windows.

These blinds are suitable for the Velux Flat Roof Windows (CFP/CVP)

Helpful Info

To prevent the fabric from sagging there is a series of 2mm thick tension wires that run through the fabric. These are visible when the blind is open.

The number of tension wires depends on the width of the blind

FOR EXAMPLE:

500mm wide = 3 tension wires

1000mm wide = 5 tension wires

1500mm wide = 7 tension wires

Measurement Edit?

Inside Recess

The recess is inside the window opening. Choose this option if you want to the blind to lie in the recess of the window.

Width: Measure the inside width of the window at the top middle and bottom. Use the narrowest width measurement always using a metal tape measure.

Height: Measure the height of the window at the left, centre and right. Use the shortest height measurement always using a metal tape measure.

We will deduct the manufacturers recommended tolerance off the width/drop of the blind to ensure the blind operates perfectly within the window recess.

Outside Recess/Exact

Outside Recess/Exact is the outside of the window opening, overlapping the window recess. Choose this option if you want the blind to overlap the window recess.

Width
To minimise light leakage it's recommended that the blind overlaps the window recess on the width by least 40mm each side (60mm in the case of vertical blinds).

Height
When measuring the height take into account the required space for the mounting bracket. A flat surface of a minimum 70mm above is required (50mm in the case of vertical blinds). The overlap at the bottom of the blind is a matter of personal choice but please take into account obstacles such as radiators.

Flat Roof Blind Measuring Guide

Firstly to determine where you would like the blind to stack this will become the top (when measuring). A blind is usually stacked at the top so the width will be from left to right and the drop will be from top to bottom of the blind.

Flat Roof Blind Side Profiles

Measures 25mm x 25mm

As standard the fabric on your blind is slightly narrower than the head rail.

This can leave a small gap where light can leak around.

To reduce the amount of light leakage you can choose to have the side profiles that run up the sides of the blind.

Flat Roof Blind

The manual and electrically operated flat roof blinds have a fixed head and bottom rail which the tension wires run between to prevent the fabric from sagging.

The dimensions of these head and bottom rails are approximately as follows:

Manual Operation - have a smaller head rail

25mmheadrail model 210

Electrically Operated Blinds - have a larger head rail

Bottom rails are approximately the same for both types of blinds
